End-of-season Party – Early Announcement: We will hold our end-of-season party on Wednesday, Oct 16 (in the case of inclement weather, we will move to Thursday, Oct. 17) at MMS. We will utilize the outdoor classroom/pavilion as we have in the past. All athletes and family members are invited to join in the fun, food, and festivities. We hope that as many of you all as possible will come out as we enjoy the afternoon/evening and recognize the kids for their hard work. The shuttle buses will be available to get the kids to the school. Parents, grandparents, siblings, etc. shall have to find their own way. Festivities will last from after school until about 7:00/7:30. Pizza will be served at 4:45 and the awards presentation will begin at about 5:30 or 6:00. We will have one last fun run on the course at 4:00 as well. All who care to may join in the run. We would love to see great numbers of parents, siblings, etc. experience Mild Discomfort, Pain, Agony!

Announcements for the week of 9/14-9/18/2020

Practice this week as per normal until 5:15 at MMS.

We will have our first meet this week on Wednesday against North Hills. There will be four races:

top 12 girls at 4/4:15

the top 12 boys immediately thereafter

the next 12 girls immediately after the boys

and the next 12 boys right after the girls.

Up to 150 spectators are permitted at the meet, but we ask that they try not to congregate too tightly at the finish. Athletes who are not competing are requested to go home on their respective buses and rest up in preparation for their race the next day.

On Thursday we will hold an intrasquad meet for those who do not race on Wednesday.

No Practice on Labor Day, Monday, 9/7. Normal after-school practice until 5:15 at MMS the rest of the week. Remember, athletes can ride the shuttle bus from their respective school even when they are coming from home. The bus from IMS is #3, from CMS #96.

Practice this week is slightly different than the original schedule. Monday = 8:15-10:00 AM, Tues-Thurs = 3:30-5:15, Friday = 8:15-10:00 AM for our time trial. Next week there will be no practice on Monday, Labor Day. We will resume with 3:30-5:15 practices from the first day of school on.

We will have our first week of regular practice this week. Monday-Friday 8:15-10:00 AM at MMS. Please arrive with a signed waiver form, a water bottle, and a mask – and a positive attitude. All paperwork must be completed and turned in to the athletic office in advance of practice in order to participate. Welcome back. We will have our first preconditioning voluntary practice on Wednesday, August 19, 2020, 8:15-10:00 AM at MMS. All athletes should bring their own water bottle and wear a mask, though they may take the mask off during the workout. We will maintain social distance as best we can and practice in pods.

The actual start date for the season has been transferred to Monday, August 24. All pre-participation requirements must be fulfilled and checked off by the athletic office in order to participate on that day and forward. We will practice 8:15-10:00 AM at MMS.

The leader coordinates the collection of food/drink items that folks bring to the table and the workers for the table. The goods are then distributed to the athletes and coaches for free. Last Practice – After the NA Invitational, we will have no practice on Friday, 10/12. We will hold our final practice on Monday, 10/15. The Athletic Department will offer four (4) additional ImPACT Concussion Testing dates during the summer of 2012. All tests will be administered in the Senior High School (10375 Perry Highway) in Room 240 (2^nd floor computer lab). There will be no cost associated with these tests. We will not offer any additional tests for fall sports. If an athlete cannot make any of these dates, they must contact the UPMC Concussion Clinic for an appointment. There is a fee associated with the UPMC Clinic. The (4) additional dates for concussion testing are:

Friday, June 22^nd at 8:30am
Wednesday, July 18^th at 10:00am
Monday, August 6^th at 10:00am
Thursday, August 16^th at 1:00pm

This is an annual thing in which we give to the runners and coaches at our invitational some food/drinks after the race. Typically folks from the team donate the items, and at the meet these are handed out at a table manned by parents. Anyone interested in volunteering to lead this effort or help out is asked to let Coach Winschel know via email at jwinschel@northallegheny.org. Thanks in advance.
